Both sides continue trying to figure out how much money is owed to Lafayette Utilities System for water the town of Broussard used over the last several years, but did not pay for.  Lafayette Utilities System Director Terry Huval says his experts conclude that the amount is 850-thousand dollars. The town of Broussard is having their own independent expert check out the numbers.

The story begin when a meter reader noticed that one of the meters for Broussard never moved, and that is when the questions began.  It was then discovered that Broussard had been getting the water free of charge for years, and today, Lafayette City Parish President Joey Durel answered questions from audience members about how, what and why did it all happen:
