Lafayette Police have arrested 37-year-old Christopher Paulson after they say he fled after police tried to stop him for being in a stolen car.

Just before 11 o'clock Sunday morning Lafayette Police were called out to investigate a stolen car from the 200 block of Paul Breaux Street.

Police say Paulson, at first, refused to stop when police turned on their lights and sirens.

While police were chasing Paulson, he hit three cars, and police say he tried to hit a police officer with the car.

Paulson finally did stop at the dead end at Poplar Street, and police arrested him.

Paulson was arrested on the following charges:

Attempted First Degree Murder of a Police Officer
Aggravated Flight from an Officer
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
Simple Battery
Unauthorized Use of a Moveable
Simple Criminal Damage to Property

Paulson was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
