Lafayette Man Arrested In Assault Of Girlfriend

A man sits in jail accused of trying to choke his girlfriend.

Scott Police say they got a domestic abuse call at the Lebesque Road Trailer Park on Mardi Gras Day. When officers got to the mobile home, they say they could hear the woman screaming for her boyfriend to get off of her. Police say they found Lawrence Dugas of Lafayette on top of her, holding her on the ground and choking her.

He's in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
