A Lafayette man is accused of setting his home on fire while someone was inside.

Captain Kip Judice with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office says it happened early this morning in the 200 block of Elias G. Road when 22-year-old Justin Bartlett allegedly poured gasoline on the home and ignited it. Deputies say Bartlett had gotten into a fight with a family member before lighting the home on fire and tried to do so without his family members inside knowing about it.

The home suffered minimal damage. The victim of the fight refused medical treatment. Bartlett sits in the parish jail charged with one count of domestic abuse battery and one count of aggravated arson. His bond is set at $20,000.
