Lafayette Man Arrested In Violent Argument

A man is accused of beating another man and a woman with a 2 x 4. Corporal Paul Mouton with Lafayette Police says it happened in the 300 block of 7th Street. Mouton says one of the victims told authorities that the three of them were arguing, when all of a sudden, 60-year-old Larry Meche of Lafayette grabbed the 2 x 4 and began beating the two of them with it. The first victim, a 43-year-old Lafayette woman, was hit multiple times in the head. The second victim, a 40-year-old Lafayette man, had multiple cuts on his hands and back. Both victims were treated at a hospital. Mouton says Meche, who was found hiding in the bushes near the scene, was arrested. The case remains under investigation.
