The man who police say caused much concern in a Lafayette neighborhood Wednesday night has been placed behind bars.

Lafayette Police Department spokesman Corporal Paul Mouton says officers responding to a disturbance call at the intersection of Westwood and West Congress Street were told by witnesses that the suspect, 21-year-old Kyle Cox of Lafayette, was noticed running from Congress to Monteigne. Officers then say they noticed the man push his way inside a home in the 100 block of Penny in an apparent effort to get away from police. The home owner told officers Cox initially asked to use the phone, but then pushed the victim and ran into the home when Cox notice police.

Cox is now behind bars facing charges of Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling, Theft, 2 Counts of Resisting an Officer and 3 Bench Warrants.
