Lafayette Man Dead After Crashing Into Tree On Cameron Street

A 53-year-old Lafayette man was killed following a single-vehicle crash during which his car crashed into a tree.

Police department spokesperson Cpl. Mouton said the victim was driving a car west on Cameron Street when for unknown reasons, he drove off the road and crashed into a tree.

The driver, George Augustine, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
