A Lafayette Parish grand jury was impaneled to consider the information presented to them about a case where one man was accused of stabbing another.  That grand jury has made the decision to indict Soamer Notier Rivera Soriano on a charge of second-degree murder after the February stabbing death of  19-year-old Alex Castillo of Opelousas.

25-year-old Soriano, who is from Lafayette, is alleged to have stabbed Castillo when the two were involved in an altercation outside of Café Habana City on Bertrand Drive earlier this year. Lafayette Police say the stabbing occurred during the early morning hours of February 4th after the two men were seen leaving the restaurant as it was closing down for the night.  A grand jury charged Rivera-Soriano with second-degree murder.
