37 year old Michael Munro Jr. pleaded guilty this week to one count of smuggling controlled substances and one count of possession with intent to distribute. According to evidence presented at the guilty plea Munro was arrested in 2014 and 2015 for buying illegal narcotics on line and having them delivered to Post Office and FedEx locations in Lafayette. Munro admitted ordering Xanax, Alprazolam and Oxycontin. At sentencing Munro faces 20 years for the smuggling count and five years for possession with intent to distribute. In addition he faces 3 years supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
