A man washing his car in the 400 block of Eraste Landry Road on Sunday night says he was approached by two black males.  He says one man pulled out a handgun and demanded his money, cellphone and car keys.

The man was not injured, and the suspects then fled the area in the victim's car.

Police say they found the vehicle a short time later in the 700 block of Voorhies Street, and they were able to identify one of the suspects from evidence they found in the car.  Officers also recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the robbery.

After getting an arrest warrant for 18-year-old Jevante Jamal Biron of Lafayette, the man was arrested without incident yesterday.

Detectives say they continue to try to identify the second suspect involved in the robbery.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the second suspect is encouraged to call Lafayette Police or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
