The Lafayette police officer who shot an armed man in front of home Sunday evening has been placed on administrative leave.
The officer’s name has not been released. Louisiana State Police continue to investigate the shooting.
State Police report the police were called to the home about a suicidal man. Police say the man, 34-year-old Harold Bastin, was armed during the confrontation with police.
Corporal Paul Mouton, spokesman for the Lafayette Police Department, says it is standard procedure in a case like this to place the officer involved in the shooting on administrative leave while the case is being investigated.
