Parolees and others under the supervision of the Lafayette Parish Correctional system will soon be tested in-house.

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office has announced that in just a few weeks they will be moving away from third-party drug testing and doing the testing with Sheriff's Office employees.

Director of Corrections for the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center Rob Reardon says each week they collect urine and sometimes blood and saliva from parolees.

The people being tested are required to under go testing as per court order.

Reardon, and Julio Nadin, an aide to Sheriff Mike Neustrom, say the department will save between $60,000 and $75,000 each each year by doing the testing in-house.
