Lafayette Parish Man Booked On Rape Charges

A 19-year-old Lafayette Parish man has been arrested, accused of breaking into a woman's home and raping her.

Captain Kip Judice with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office says the victim reported the rape on May 29. She says the man was wearing a black t-shirt over his face, but it fell off during the assault.

"Through investigative techniques," Judice says, "[Adam] Smith was developed as a suspect and the victim positively identified Smith as her attacker."

Smith has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. Bond has not yet been set.
