Lafayette Parish Man Wanted On Attempted Murder Charges
A Lafayette Parish man is wanted on charges of attempted second-degree murder following a shooting at a local grocery store Sunday.
Capt. Kip Judice with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office says 27-year-old Blake Johnson is wanted in connection with the shooting at the Pontalba Grocery Store on Mariginy Circle.
Judice says Johnson and 22-year-old John Dean of Duson met at the store and an "ongoing confrontation escalated in the parking lot."
"Johnson...produced a handgun and fired several shots--one of which struck the victim," Judice says.
Dean was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in good condition.
Johnson was last seen leaving the scene in a white mini-van. He's described as a black male, 5'7", weighing about 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Police believe Johnson is armed and dangerous. If you know his whereabouts, you're urged to call police.
