Several schools have already resumed classes for this year, but the official start date for Lafayette Parish Public Schools will be this Wednesday, August 14.

Many kids make their way to and from school by riding a bus.

The Lafayette Parish School Board has activated their call center to help parents with bus information for this school year.

Parents can call 521-RIDE (7433) or go to lpssonline.com to get details about their children's bus options.

Director of Transportation Damon Evans says,

" We want to make it as easy as possible for parents to get the information they need about transportation for the new school year.  Parents should go online to confirm their students' pick up and drop off times and locations or contact us at 521-RIDE (7433)."

Lafayette Parish has 289 buses that operate more than 700 routes, and they transport 17,000 students every school day.
