LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — All Lafayette Parish schools are expected to have enough technological devices to meet a 5:1 ratio by the end of the week.

The ratio of one computer for every five students is preferred by Louisiana Department of Education officials and exceeds the state's minimum 7:1 ratio requirement.

LaShona Dickerson, the district's technology director, tells The Advertiser 32 of the district's 40 testing schools currently meet the 5:1 ratio, with a combination of meeting minimum and recommended specifications. Dickerson says all schools should be ready with the 5:1 ratio in a few days.

Dickerson said a total of 2,864 devices have been purchased, including mostly desktop computers and laptops.
