Lafayette Police were called out to the 100 block of Castille Avenue Tuesday evening after a man says he was walking with a guy, 17-year-old Austin Hack, down the street when the guy suddenly decided to shoot him in the back twice.

The suspect told police he doesn't know why the man shot him and then took off running.

The victim is still being treated in a local hospital, while police have their suspect in the case.

Hack was arrested early Wednesday morning on a charge of attempted second degree murder in the 200 block of Ginger Street in connection with the shooting.

Police says the motive behind the shooting is still being investigated.
