Wednesday the Lafayette Police Department’s Youth Services Section were checking out local businesses to find out if any of them were selling alcohol to be underage.  Most of the thirty-three businesses were in compliance, but there were four stores were clerks sold to the person underage.

Police say as part of the operation they used an undercover person under the age of 21 to walk into each of the businesses to try to buy alcohol.  The underage person was successful only four of the times they tried.

Police say the following businesses were check and were IN compliance with NO violations:

  • Valero, 1912 Northeast Evangeline Thruway
  • Exxon, 100 West Pont Des Mouton
  • Texaco, 120 West Pont Des Mouton
  • Valero, 3802 Moss Street
  • Country Mart, 3601 Moss Street
  • T & J Food Mart,  2331 Moss Street
  • Chevron, 1600 Moss Street
  • K & I Grocery, 1215 Moss Street
  • Simcoe Mart, 2321 E. Simcoe
  • Shop Rite, 2400 West Congress
  • Hit & Run, 2432 West Congress
  • Shop Rite, 4000 West Congress
  • Fina , 3928 West Congress
  • Cracker Barrel, 3201 Johnston
  • Shop Rite, 237 Doucet
  • M & M Shop, 101 South College
  • Hit & Run, 2007 Johnston
  • Complete Stop, 1400 West Pinhook
  • Chevron, 1808 West Pinhook

Lafayette Police say the following businesses were check and WERE found to be IN violation.  An employee at each of these businesses was issued a summons for each violation:

  2. Manhattan Express, 944 East Simcoe, Sales to Persons Under 21/No Bar Card
  3. Shell Complete Stop, 1551 Southeast Thruway, Sales to Persons Under 21/No Bar Card
  4. Tobacco Plus, 3044 West Pinhook, Sales to Persons Under 21
