Lafayette Police continue their efforts to keep impaired drivers off the roads as they will be holding an OWI checkpoint within the incorporated limits of Lafayette.

“The purpose of the checkpoint is to target impaired drivers under the influence of alcohol or any other dangerous substance,” says LPD spokesman Corporal Paul Mouton. “Officers working the checkpoint will respond with zero tolerance to those drivers found to be under the influence.“

The checkpoint will happen between the hours of 9:00 p.m. on Friday until 3:00 a.m. the following morning.

“Designate a driver if you intend to drink,” says Cpl. Mouton. “By not doing so, it could result in costly fines and serious jail time.”
