UPDATE: Suspect Arrested In 12th Street Shooting Investigation

Lafayette Police have arrested 23-year-old Felix Parry Pierre III on an arrest warrant for second-degree murder. Pierre was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.

Lafayette Police Spokesman Corporal Paul Mouton tells Kpel that the body of a man was found at 1604 12th Street this morning.

Around 2:30 this morning, police were called out to the home to find the man had been shot to death.

Police say 19-year-old Deontra Alexander was likely shot inside of his home.

They are investigating the case as a homicide.

Witnesses told police that they found the man dead of single gunshot wound.
