Lafayette Police are investigating the early morning robbery of a man on McKinley Street.

According to Cpl. Paul Mouton, spokesperson for the Lafayette Police Department, the 20-year-old victim said a male suspect approached him and pulled out a handgun. The suspect robbed him of his phone and wallet and then hit him twice in the head with the gun, the victim told police.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 50's, about five feet tall, and he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark long pants.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries, Mouton said.
