Early this morning the Lafayette Police Department was called out to the area of Chestnut Street and Third Street after getting a call about a shooting.

The male victim told officers he was getting out of his car when he was confronted by three black males armed with handguns.

The victim says he ran away while the three men followed him.

Police say as the first victim fled, a second victim picked him up in his car.  The driver of the car was shot in the neck.

The suspects then fled the area.  The victim was taken to an area hospital, and he is stable condition.  The second victim was not injured.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspects to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
