LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- Police are investigating another carjacking, the fourth in a string of thefts targeting women in the last week.

Lafayette Police Cpl. Paul Mouton says the latest incident happened Saturday evening in the parking lot of a business on Johnston Street.

The victim says she was walking to her green Hyundai Elantra when a black male holding a handgun approached her and demanded her keys, her purse, and her phone. He then drove away in her car in the direction of University Ave., Mouton says.

The victim's car was later found in the Four Corners area, near the intersection of North University Avenue and Cameron Street.

The victim was not harmed, and the case remains under investigation.

Mouton says this most recent carjacking is extremely similar to three others that happened earlier in the week.

If you have any information, you're urged to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
