The man who died after a disturbance at a hotel on 1441 SE Evangeline Thruway has been identified as 48-year-old Cleveland Green of Lafayette.

Corporal Paul Mouton with Lafayette Police says a security guard was told about a man dressed only in his underwear harassing other patrons and employees on the third floor. The guard handcuffed the suspect, later identified as Green, after a brief struggle and brought him to the lobby.

Once they were in the lobby, Corporal Mouton says Green made a move towards an employee. The guard brought Green to the ground. When Lafayette Police got there, he was having difficulty breathing. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The Lafayette Parish Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine an exact cause of death. There were no other injuries in the incident. The case remains under investigation.
