Sunday morning at 1:10 Lafayette Police responded to a shooting in the 900 block of East Simcoe Street. Witnesses said the victim was attempting to break up a fight when the suspect produced a handgun and fired three times. The victim was struck once in the hand and twice in the chest. The suspect fled before police arrived. The 34 year old victim was taken to a local hospital and remains in stable condition.

The suspect was identified by police as 28 year old Terrence J. Augustine of Lafayette. A warrant for attempted second degree murder has been issued.
