Suspect In Lafayette Card Game Burglary Arrested, Charged With Separate Incident
UPDATE — One of two suspects believed to be responsible for robbing a card game last month has been taken into custody.
According to Cpl. Paul Mouton with the Lafayette Police Deptartment, 21-year-old Shawn Orebo was pulled over Friday night by deputies with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Orebo was taken to the Lafayette Police Department for questioning, but he was not arrested for the May robbery, Mouton said.
Instead, Orebo was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on charges stemming from another May incident in which Orebo and the same accomplice attacked a restaurant employee on Ambassador Caffery Parkway as that employee was walking to his car. The pair forced him to re-open the business, Mouton said.
The suspects fled the business when the alarm was activated, and the victim received minor injuries, Mouton said.
Police are still trying to identify the person wearing the white shirt in the above photo, but Mouton said investigators believe he is involved in both incidents.
(June 7, 2013) — Two male suspects are accused of robbing a card game, and Lafayette Police need your help catching them.
Spokesman Corporal Paul Mouton says it happened May 27 at a home in the 100 block of Goldman Street. Police say the two suspects broke into the home armed with handguns while the card game was happening. Authorities say the two men had on ski masks and demanded money, getting away with cash and other items including a visa debit card.
Cpl. Mouton says the two possible suspects used the debit card days later at a local convenience store. (See Picture Above.)
