A Lafayette Police officer is one of the most recent graduates of the FBI National Academy.

Sergeant Reginald Thomas graduated from the Academy's 247th session on December 16, 2011. Thomas is the current Training Director for the Lafayette Police Department and has been with the department since 1990.

The FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, "offers 11 weeks of advanced investigative, management, and fitness training," taught by FBI instructional staff, special agents and other staff members.

The Academy started in July of 1935 and has graduated more than 45,000 students.
