Lafayette Police Officers Catch Car Burglars In The Act
Two car burglars were caught red-handed around 12:55 a.m. Sunday, allegedly breaking into a vehicle after allegedly trying to break into other vehicles.
Corporal Paul Mouton with Lafayette Police says officers noticed 22-year-old Jules Tripeaux of New Iberia and 20-year-old Randolph Galentine pulling on car door handles on Jefferson Street, trying to get into the vehicles. Once the two men were allegedly able to get into one of the vehicles, officers arrested them each on five counts of attempted simple burglary and one count of simple burglary.
Police say they recovered numerous pieces of electronic equipment. Authorities continue to investigate.
