Lafayette Police Warn Of IRS Scam

According to the Lafayette Police Department at least four people have been victim to an IRS scam that has cost thousands of dollars. Detectives say scammers are contacting people by phone, claiming to be from the IRS and demanding immediate payment for back taxes. Victims are advised by the caller that if payment is not made immediately a warrant for their arrests will be issued. "Green Dot Prepaid Cards" is the method scammers are requesting for payment. Lafayette Police warn to hang up if you receive such a call and notify the IRS.
