This Saturday is "Household Chemical Day" for Lafayette City residents and those who live in the unincorporated areas of Lafayette Parish.  That means you can get rid of many items that you no longer need at no charge to you.

The Environmental Quality Division of Lafayette Consolidated Government is having the household chemical drop-off day this Saturday, April 27th from 8 a.m. until noon at the Cajun Field parking lot. The event is only open to residents of the city of Lafayette and citizens of the unincorporated areas of Lafayette.  You will be asked to provide proper identification of your address.

There are a variety of items that WILL and WILL NOT be collected.  An example of the items that WILL be accepted include:

  • Paint and paint products
  • Chemical cleaners
  • Pesticides
  • Copiers

An example of the items that WILL NOT be accepted include:

  • No televisions
  • No commercial waste
  • No compressed gas cylinders
  • No ammunition

For a complete list of which items will and will not be accepted click here.  Environmental Manager Mark Pope asks citizens to enter from West Congress Street at Gate 4.
