The Lafayette Parish School Board has begun to chip away at the $23.5 million budget shortfall reported a couple weeks ago. The board removed over 100 positions during their budget meeting Tuesday, tallying around $13 million in cuts.

Some of the cuts include teachers and faculty as well as arts and special education programs.

The board will still face an estimated $7 million budget shortfall that will have to be addressed in the coming weeks.
