The Lafayette Parish School Board will vote this week to approve revisions to the Louisiana Public School Choice policy.

In a document alerting changes to the policy, Forethought Consulting, Inc. outlined and described some amendments made to the statute that the School board should consider in voting on the measure at the regular school board meeting Wednesday.

Some of the main talking points of the revisions include explanations of students' eligibility in the school of choice program, as well as, the superintendent's governance of said policy.

In review, the school of choice program allows guardians to move their student from a failing school to a higher performing school with no regards to district or geographical boundaries.

Another item on the agenda that may bring fans to the stands is the approval to refurbish the football fields at Acadiana High, Carencro High and Comeaux High Schools. This item was added to the agenda by the newly formed Facilities Committee comprised of board members Jeremy Hidalgo, District 9; Eric Knezek, District 8; and Britt Latiolais, District 5.
