Update – Lafayette Man Arrested In Connection With Shooting

UPDATE: 4:06 p.m. May 24: Lafayette Police have arrested 20-year-old Wilbert J. Simon, Jr. of Lafayette in connection with the shooting death of Isiah Morgan.  Detectives have charged Simon with 2nd Degree Murder. The case remains under investigation.

UPDATE: 3:23 p.m. — The person killed in a shooting Wednesday morning has been identified.

Corporal Paul Mouton with the Lafayette Police Department says 22-year-old Isiah Morgan was shot to death.

The case remains under investigation.

8:28 a.m. — The Lafayette Police Department responded to a call early this morning around 12:30 at Goldman Street and Division.

The call reported that witnesses watched as two men were arguing when one of the men pulled a handgun out and shot the victim.

The 22 year old Lafayette man was found by police lying dead in the street.

Witnesses claimed that only one gun shot was fired, and he immediately left the area afterwards. Witnesses also claimed that the shooter is described as a black male, slender build and around 6’3″ tall.

Police are asking that if you know anything about the incident, to please call Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS(8477)
