The Lafayette Police department responded to a call last night dealing with a shooting outside of Shannon's Bar on the 4800 block of West Congress Street.

According to police reports, the two men who were involved with in a disturbance inside of the bar, the men happened to be friends, when they took it outside. Once outside, one of the men, a 44-year old Lafayette man, went to his vehicle where he grabbed a firearm.

He returned to his friend, a 41-year old Carencro man, and shot him in the abdomen. After shooting him, he returned to his vehicle and shot himself in the chest.

The Lafayette man was transported to a nearby hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition.

The Carencro man is listed in stable condition.

The case remains under investigation.
