Lafayette Sobriety Check Point

Lafayette Police along with the Sheriff's office had a sobriety checkpoint on Louisiana Avenue Saturday night into Sunday morning.  274 vehicles went through the checkpoint, seven were stopped for secondary testing, and 3 citations were issued.  Saturday night Lafayette police say a Rayne man was killed in a crash at I-49 and I-10.  Floyd Carmello's car was hit after another person crossed the center line and slammed into Carmello's car.  He died at the scene and the other driver only had minor injuries.
