Lafayette has been named Best For Food in Rand McNally's Best Of The Road Competition. Lafayette was one of six finalists, narrowed down from over 100 cities all across the country. The judges from the food category, the team of Jim and Bonnie Parr, aka The Fun Finders, visited Lafayette earlier this month and spent about 40 hours in the city, visiting more than 10 local restaurants.

The winning teams, including competitors in four other categories, were announced today at the Destination Marketing Associations International Conference in New Orleans. In the winning announcement, Rand McNally said that the judges identified Lafayette’s food as "flavorful, not hot or spicy" and that they enjoyed the dessert of "Cajun dancing."As a result of winning the competition, Lafayette will be featured in tomorrow's USA Today. Chef Pat Mould, who accepted the award at the conference, will be on "Mornings with Ken and Bernie" tomorrow at 8:05.
