Lafayette Woman Charged – Attempted Second Degree Murder

An argument in the Academy parking lot on Louisiana Avenue lead to the arrest of 26 year old Natia I. Benoit. Lafayette Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a call about a fight with weapons in progress Tuesday afternoon. According to our news partner KATC surveillance footage indicated four people got into an argument with Benoit who got into her car and attempted to run over them. One person got into her own car but Benoit allegedly hit that car twice. Benoit was charged with four counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated criminal damage to property. The four people who argued with Benoit were booked with simple assault.
