LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — City-parish government will seek community comment next month in a four-day series of forums to help craft a comprehensive plan for Lafayette's growth.

A separate meeting focused specifically on a growth plan for the downtown area is scheduled on Tuesday at the Acadiana Center for the Arts.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/WIJLal ) the forums are part of an effort to develop a plan in shaping development in Lafayette over the next 20 years.

The first series of community forums on the comprehensive plan were held in April, attracting more than 600 residents.

At next month's forums, planning consultants working with the city are expected to discuss their assessment of Lafayette's future.
