Lafayette’s Emergency Command To Get New Director
Lafayette Parish's emergency command, which oversees the local 911 system and emergency and homeland security operations, will undergo a leadership change for the first time in three decades.
KATC-TV 3 reported Capt. Craig Stansbury, who serves as executive officer of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office enforcement division and also served as the department's public information officer, will replace William Vincent as director of the Lafayette Parish Communication District.
Lafayette Fire Chief Robert Benoit, chairman of the Lafayette Parish Communication District Commission, says Vincent, who's served as director since the parish 911 system was created in 1979, will retire March 1.
Benoit says Stansbury, who's leaving the Sheriff's Office after 31 years of service, will begin shadowing Vincent on Monday.
Stansbury was hired in December after Vincent announced his retirement last summer.
