Lake Arthur Man Sentenced For Trying To Kill Estranged Wife
In an update to this story, Ernest Monceaux of Lake Arthur has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for trying to kill his estranged wife in 2009.
Monceaux pleaded guilty to attempted manslaughter in October after authorities say he hit Cindy Monceaux several times in the face and put a gun between her eyes, threatening to kill her. During testimony, Cindy Monceaux told the court Ernest Monceaux pulled the trigger twice, but the gun did not fire. A neighbor who witnessed the attack eventually rescued her.
Ernest Monceaux was also sentenced to five years' supervised probation on a false imprisonment charge. He was initially charged with attempted murder after the attack.
