A Lake Arthur woman is dead after an early morning crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 190 at Louisiana Highway 99 in Jefferson Davis Parish.

State Police say 68-year-old Alice Landry failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection.
Although she was wearing a seat belt, State Police say Landry was pronounced dead at the scene.  They say she sustained injuries as the driver's side of the car received major damage due to the crash.

The driver of the other vehicle along with an 11-month-old were taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries.  State Police say that driver, 20-year-old Sierra Leonard of Elton, was not wearing a seat belt, and investigators suspect the child seat was not properly installed.

Troop D has investigated 19 fatal crashes resulting in 17 fatalities so far this year.
