BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Voters head to the polls Saturday to select Louisiana's next U.S. senator, choosing between Democratic incumbent Mary Landrieu and Republican Bill Cassidy.

As the two candidates made their final campaign arguments to voters Friday, their approaches were strikingly different.

Growing hoarse from non-stop campaign appearances over the last month, Landrieu continued her crisscross around Louisiana. She hit four different events to deliver her stump speech and mingle with supporters in smaller groups.

Confident in his leading status, Cassidy has attended fewer events since the Senate race headed to the runoff. He spent Friday at two rallies starring Iowa Sen.-elect Joni Ernst, his first public events since a Monday debate with Landrieu.

Landrieu, the underdog in the race, is Louisiana's last Democratic statewide elected official in a state trending more Republican.
