NEW IBERIA, LA – Congressman Jeff Landry is upset with President Obama for comments he made this weekend at the CEO Business Summit in Brazil. From Congressman Jeff Landry's Office:

In response to President Obama revealing his desire to rely on more foreign oil at the CEO Business Summit in Brazil, Congressman Jeff Landry (Republican, LA-03) – the House’s leading proponent of domestic energy production – issued the following rebuke:

“The President’s comments this weekend clarified everything: the President would rather use more foreign oil than get hard-working Americans back to work,” said Landry. “Thousands of Americans have lost their jobs because the President has issued only 3 permits and 1 exploration plan in nearly a year. Instead of focusing on ways to utilize our natural resources and put our people to work, the President advocates oil production in Brazil and restricts it here. The man is clearly out-of-touch with America.”

President Obama stated the following at the CEO Business Summit in Brazil this weekend: “We want to help with technology and support to develop these oil reserves safely, and when you’re ready to start selling, we want to be one of your best customers.  At a time when we’ve been reminded how easily instability in other parts of the world can affect the price of oil, the United States could not be happier with the potential for a new, stable source of energy.”
