DALLAS (AP) — Researchers say airline performance is getting worse but consumer complaints to the government are falling just the same.

Academics who study the airline industry say carriers are falling behind schedule more often and mishandling more bags but in spite of that, consumer complaints last year dropped 15 percent.

Most of the worst grades were earned by smaller regional airlines.
