Latest Escaped Inmate Returning to St. Mary Jail

The latest escaped inmate from the St. Mary Parish Correctional Center has been arrested.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum said 25-year-old Jeremy Perez was captured in Crowley today. Perez is awaiting extradition back to St. Mary Parish,

A warrant for simple escape was acquired for Perez after he escaped on Friday.

Anslum is searching for a new warden at the Centerville facility following this escape--the second such incident in two weeks. Warden Robin Landry will soon be replaced. Two deputies were fired before Perez was recaptured today.
