Students Evacuated and Hazmat Called After Bomb Threat at L.J. Alleman School
The Lafayette Parish School System told KPEL that around 9:15 this morning, a written bomb threat was found on the walls of a bathroom at LJ Alleman School on Roselawn Boulevard. The note claimed that a bomb was going to go off at the school at 9:30. Police were called at that time.
Lafayette Hazmat, firefighters and police went to the scene, and found no bomb on the premises. As a precaution, students, teachers and staff were all sent next door to Grace Presbyterian Church, who opened their doors to those evacuated.
Authorities said students were able to return to classes soon after.
