One lawmaker wants to direct $300 million towards rural roads that have needed to be worked on for years. Jim Fannin, chairman of the Louisiana House Appropriations Committee is working on a bill that would allow the state to sell 20-year bonds that would be funded through an existing transportation fund.
He says there's about six thousand miles of mostly rural roads that are not eligible for federal funds and are in desperate need of repair.
