The contract gets approval. KPEL reported earlier today that new Superintendent of Education John White was set to go before the Joint Legislative Budget Committee for approval of the proposed $275,000 salary for him. Lawmakers have given the contract the ok. The contract also calls for 6% annual pay raises, with a positive evaluation. But Committee he won't take raises unless other conditions are met.

His salary is still $80,000 less than what his predecessor, Paul Pastorek, got. And it's also a reduction in pay from what he made as head of the state's Recovery School District for failing public schools.
