The ex-boyfriend of a man's daughter is now behind bars, accused of stealing from his home.

The burglary happened in March at a home on Pine Loop in the Opelousas area. Several game consoles, guns, miscellaneous jewelry, keys to the homeowner's business, cash money and even food from his refrigerator were stolen from his home.

23-year-old Chance Carroll of Lawtell then allegedly called the man a few days later begging him not to press charges on him for the break-in and even allegedly offered him $1,000 or whatever he wanted not to pursue charges.

After additional key evidence was found at the scene, an arrest warrant for Carroll was issued and Carroll was stopped in Orleans Parish for an alleged traffic violation. He was then transported to St. Landry Parish for processing.

"Sadly, we live in a time that we have to lock up our valuables from own our family, friends and associates," says St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. "Carroll is well-known by the St. Landry Parish detectives."
