Notices of impending layoffs have gone out to seven LSU hospitals to begin implementing $29 million in Jindal administration budget cuts.

The notice from the hospital system says the layoffs would be effective March 5.

The notices are general in nature and do not specify how many jobs at each facility are on the chopping block.

The hospital employees effected work at LSU hospitals in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Independence, Bogalusa, Houma, Lake Charles and UMC here in Lafayette.  At present the hospitals employ nearly 7,000 people.
